SHARE THESE THOUGHTS WITH THE GROUP FROM LH PRESIDENT AND BIRTH MOTHER ASHLEY MITCHELL:
My name is Ashley and I am a birth mother. I placed a son for adoption almost 12 years ago.
After more than a decade of living life post placement I have learned a few things about myself. My thought process and my understanding has changed so much. When I first started sharing my story I was so naive and uneducated on all that I had experienced. But as I started to learn, to listen and to understand it opened my eyes and my heart to so much more.
I have learned 10 very profound lessons in my life and they have changed my healing and opened my heart to serve in ways that I never thought possible.
TAKE SOME TIME AND SHARE THE VIDEO: (video is below...please note this video was filmed in 2016)
AFTER THE VIDEO IS FINISHED:
Allow the women in your group some quiet time to write 10 things that they know about themselves as birth mothers IN THEIR CURRENT JOURNEY. Make sure they are validated and met right where they are. There is NO right or wrong answer here.
Allow them to be honest and vulnerable.
AFTER THEY ARE ALL FINISHED WRITING:
Take some time and allow the women to share all 10 things on their list! Help encourage them and ask WHY they chose what they did.
Make sure you provide enough time for each of the women to share if they so desire.
They may only want to share one or two things, that may be all that they can come up with...THAT IS JUST FINE!
Celebrate them in the realities that they are discovering about them selves!!!
We would love to hear how group went so be sure to share your thoughts: firstname.lastname@example.org
